Today started in McLean, Texas with a nice breakfast at the local Chuck Wagon Cafe. A customer saw our bicycles parked in front and came out as we were leaving and handed us $20.00. She said she wanted to pay for our breakfast, but I had already taken care of that. We will put the $20.00 towards our Lazarex Cancer Foundation fundraising effort.
The winds were mostly at our backs today until late in the afternoon when they became stronger crosswinds, and buffeting the bikes.
We stopped in Shamrock, Texas at the city's beautifully restored Route 66 Icon gas station, and Cafe which have been turned into a museum and Route 66 gift shop. A group of about twenty motorcycles from Kansas had stopped to take a look, when Terry and I rolled up on our bikes. We began talking and telling our story and a few riders gave us another $32.00 for our effort.
We crossed the Texas, Oklahoma State line today and are now enjoying more greenery and picturesque farm fields and cattle ranches. Resting tonight in Elk City, OK.
