5/8 Farmington to Chester IL

Across the Chester bridge that spans the Mississippi and into Illinois (part of Big Ten country). A 50 mile ride with a top elevation of 1,080, but with 2,698 of climb. That means much up and down riding.

The Bridge was kind of anti-climatic, but we got over into Popeye country. We checked into the Best Western, had dinner and doing laundry.

We were feeling tired as we left Farmington our last day in Missouri.  Once we warmed up outside of town and climbing the last hills in the Ozarks  we got into a groovereding 45 hours stopping only for water breaks and photos.  Illinois and the City of Chester were pulling us in, and we felt strong for final assent up the narrow bridge land and over the brown water of the Mississippi River into Chester.

The eastern side of the Oarks are home to vineyards, small farms, large scale fields growing an assortment of grains and corn.  Riding the Ozarks was an unforgettable experience of a laid back culture with working people, slower paced lifestyle earning its spot in our life memories.
