We stayed in Stroud, OK a small town east of Oklahoma City last night. This morning we decided to have breakfast in town at the Rock Cafe an established business for 75 years. We sat down at a table, and ordered our breakfast. An older gentleman wearing a cowboy hat was finishing his breakfast when we walked in. As he got up to leave he paid his bill and the bills for the other customers in the restaurant at the time. An act of kindness that left us speechless and filled with gratitude.
Our ride started with overcast skies and cool temps in the 50's a perfect combination for our 87 miles ahead of us. We appreciated the terrain for the entire day of minimal climbing which provided higher speeds to propel us into Tulsa, OK by noon. We had very minimal traffic in Tulsa due to it being Saturday. We switched from maps to GPS navigation inside the city for ease of travel on a bicycle. The GPS took us on a zig and a zag through the city, and I was a little confused where exactly this technology was taking us. We ended up doing a little dead reckoning and seat of your pants navigating around a closed to the public Port of Catoosa. We actually had to ask for directions around this shipping installation. Once we got back on track the GPS once again took us on a tour of the back roads of Claremore right into another dead end. A very nice gentleman in a pickup truck set us in the right direction and said as we left "try ordering a pizza delivery here". We finally found the hotel and all is right in the world of the Old Spokes.
We are at our halfway point and right on target for a finish at Virginia Beach on or before May 31st.
