Up about 7Am to have breakfast at Margie's Place in Eminence. We down some eggs and pancakes ready for the day. We started out finding the same up and down hills as before. It is nice to encounter the hardest part of the ride in the morning. We climbed some 14% grades and stopped in Ellington at the Orange Blossom Cafe and Florist shop. We talked to several people who inquired about our riding including the couple who own and manage Hostel who were interested in our trip and that we let the bicycle community know about their accommodations. Also, we met a couple Gay and Terry Sharp. Gay is a cancer survivor and was wearing a tee shirt claiming this. We talked briefly about the Ozarks and what to see. Carol arrived shortly after they left, but declined getting any food. I went to pay the bill and was told that the Sharps paid for our lunch. We were so thankful to them and will pay that forward when we have the chance. Gay took our card and has become a Facebook friend of Mark and I. I love that we meet people and strike a relationship via Facebook that will last.
Mark and I were pleased with the remainder of the ride. While we encountered some long grades they amounted to maybe 4 or 5 percent and we had some nice downhills to Lesterville.
Once into our hotel we went next door to the Granny's Grocery store to have catfish. After dinner we went across the parking lot to Black River Ice Creamery for milk shakes. MM MM Good. One bad thing is that I have lost one tennis shoe and only brought one pair of shoes for post riding I managed with my Adidas rubber sandals and will get some new tennis shoes tomorrow.
