Day 8 Seligman, AZ to Williams, AZ

Our Day started with a little SAG car battery trouble. It was temporarily fixed with a jump from AAA, Carol will get a new battery in Flagstaff on Sunday.

Mark and Terry road out of town in partly cloudy skies, cool temps, and headwinds. Our destination was Williams, AZ. Almost immediately we stopped to put on our windbreakers as the windchill was more than we thought. The scenery out of Seligman was ranch land, railroads, which eventually gave way to the freeway view.

We exited in Ash Fork, AZ a pridominately quarry town. Their big business was flagstone, and serving the locals. As we road through town you can see it's not a bustling community on a Saturday. We stopped in at the Ranch House Cafe a eatery serving the local community. As we walked in we got the look of who are you by a few customers. The food was good, they could not quite figure out how to make a milk shake so I settled for a bowl of ice cream with chocolate sauce. Terry looked at me and said all they needed was milk.  It was all good and I chalked the experience up to being in a small town used to serving locals.

Terry and I clipped back into the pedals, found highway 40 east and headed for Williams, AZ. Williams is the gateway to the Grand Canyon and is home to the Grand Canyon Railway. As we rode into town you can sense that it's a happening and lively place. People bustling up and down the streets looking for restaurants. The shop doors are open enviting for customers to stop in and shop for Route 66 souvenirs.
