THE RECEIPTION AT TOWER GRILL

Some of our Team for life members at the reception  from left to right
Cynthia, Carol, Terry, Mark, Bill, Briana

We had an amazing send off reception at the Tower Grill last night.  We thought 60 people would attend, but we had hundreds there to wish us well and and support this incredible journey.  Everyone from the Mayor of San Ramon, friends, family, Ohio State Bay Area Buddies, the Old Spokes, Rotarians, San Ramon Chorus members, bicycle riders and others dropped in to have a drink and some food.  It was the icing on the cake for our preparation to ride across America.  We know so many people who will be following us here and on Facebook.

If anyone who reads this wants to join this celebration to fight cancer please donate by using the link below.

Thank you to the Lazarex Cancer Foundation, the Tower Grill, Bill Clarkson and to everyone who attended.  We are riding for all of you and for everyone who is fighting the fight against this terrible disease.

Tomorrow we head fro Santa Monica and start the ride early Saturday.  We are ready!

Old Spokes Reception at the Tower Grill

We are having a reception at the Tower Grill in Danville on March 30, 2016 starting at 6PM.  We would like everyone to come.  Click on the link below to see the email that was sent.  If you are not on our email list please refer to the email for details.

We are less than 2 weeks from the start of our trip.  We have been riding (probably not enough) to make sure we are ready for this 4,000 mile journey.

Also, we are spending time wrapping up tasks that need to be done before and while we are gone.  We are making lists of bills to pay, taxes to file, the mail, the utilities, the dog and house to watch, the car, what to bring, maps, hotels to book and other important things to do.

We are so excited and ready to get started.

Two Week Countdown

Alameda, CA Looking Across San Francisco Bay
Wow!! Looking at the calendar with so much to do, and feeling like there is so little time before we shove off and take our first pedal stroke eastward.
Our bicycles are ready, our spirits are ready, our bodies are ready most days. Cycling maps are in order and have been studied, You Tube has been viewed for hours, our on bike nutrition for the ride has been organized. What's left to do?

Spending time with family is important and a high priority before we leave, securing loose strings at home, riding, working, packing and rethinking all items on the bike. Even with a SAG vehicle with us every day we will be self sufficient on the bike during the entire ride. Our SAG will carry our luxury items for this trip like electronics, extra pillows, off bike clothing, food and water, tool kit, etc. Carol is our SAG driver and will check in with us a couple times each day and more if needed due to weather conditions and unforeseen circumstances.
