5/9 A rain day off the bikes IN Chester IL

With a forecast of rain and a need for a day off to get some needed chain lube, bottle washers and other supplies we decided to stay in Chester for the day.

We got up about 7:45AM, late for us, and were surprised at the hotel's breakfast to meet Mark and Sharon with a friend who were riding their tandem bike with a BOB trailer on the back.  It was fascinating talking to these folks who were in their 70's who have ridden some very impressive rides.  They left for about a 34 mile ride to a son's house.  We watched them go in a bit of a drizzle. We were glad to stay at the hotel.  I thought that the tandem bike and the BOB trailer made the bike longer than a large car.

We headed out to Walmart to get supplies.  On the way back we stopped at Mary's River Covered Bridge. I laugh at how my Mother had a saying when she was thirsty.  "I am drier than a covered bridge".  It was a beautiful and very preserved bridge to remind us of an earlier time.

goodbye to Mark and Sharon
